Tomorrow you say? Bummer.

I pre-ordered Tarja Turunen's new solo album My Winter Storm about two weeks ago at amazon.de and I'm tired of waiting. Never mind that I haven't set up my sound system yet. Never mind that my CD player doesn't work. Never mind that my computer doesn't work, either.

I just want to listen to her exceptional voice. Is that too much to ask? *sigh*

So not too much to ask. I want my CD!!! I don't know why I pre-ordered it online, cos now I have to wait till this afternoon to get it instead of walking to a store yesterday and getting it. Of course I've been listening to I Walk Alone nonstop but I want more!

I dunno how it is outside of Finland, but here it's really annoying how you can tell which 'reporters' are on Tarja's side and which ones are on Tuomas Holopainen's side. It's almost like a battle of fans out in the open. I'm so sick and tired of it. Let the woman be.

If I were still living in Berlin, I'd pick up the CD during my lunch break. Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of nowhere and chances are, the pre-order will be faster than me going into town and probably not even getting the CD. As for listening to I Walk Alone for hours on end, I so hear you. ^^

I must admit, I fell off the Nightwish wagon before Tarja split (or was asked to), mostly because I felt that ever since they'd become widely popular, their music was getting more and more mainstream. If I'm in a Nightwish kind of mood, I'll go back to Angels Fall First and Oceanborn mostly. But I digress...

My point is, when I heard I Walk Alone on the radio for the first time, I was like, "Whoa, cool, new Nightwish song!" That should tell you how uninformed I've been until recently. So I'm the last person to know if this battle is being reported outside of Finland at all.

BTW, I like your icon. Looks familiar. *g*

I wasn't a big fan of the last album they made while Tarja was still on board. But now... after they fired Tarja in the way they did, humiliating her publicly, I decided I was not gonna listen to their music anymore. At least not the future stuff. And now with Nightwish's new album out and their open letter songs like Bye Bye Beautiful... It's making my blood boil. I might have to finally relent and post about this on my own LJ, too. I don't know if anyone else on my LJ (besides you) even knows who Tarja is, but when you need to vent, you need to vent. :P

Heh. I love that pic of Tarja in our icons. It's one of my favorites. I once made a sketch of it.

You know, even if they'd parted on friendly terms, I still wouldn't listen to current Nighwish songs. Tarja's voice was what made Nightwish special. The new singer is good at what she's doing, but her voice is unremarkable which makes Nightwish as a band unremarkable.

If you need to rant, you need to rant. Have a go at it, I'd say. You'll feel much better afterwards. :)

Do you have a digital version of that sketch? 'Cause I'd sure love to see it. ^^

It's true that Tarja's voice is what made the band. Many here say that now you can actually hear the music cos you don't focus so much on Tarja's voice. But I don't see that as a good thing. Also, I wonder how the new chick is gonna handle the old songs. Her voice just won't be able to carry those songs. And to me... well, it's also about the lyrics. I mean it's been two years since she was fired from the band... and still the band can't let go of their hostilities. I don't wanna listen to songs that disrespect others and are meant to be open letters about something that really should be dead and buried by now.

I'll have to post about it all once I get home. ;)

I don't have it in a digital version but once I find it (I know it's in one of my folders), I'll ask a friend of mine to scan it.

To me, Nightwish is dead though not necessarily because of how they split (I still don't know the whole story). I just don't like the new singer's voice, so I don't even wonder how she's gonna handle the old songs. If I want to listen to those, I dig out my albums.

I'm looking forward to your post. And I'm also looking forward to seeing your sketch. Me, I suck at sketching most of the time, but I do like to see the work of others. :)

Heh. I suck at sketching most of the time too, but sometimes I do okay. Like with the Kate Mulgrew one I drew a few years ago... And I think Tarja came out okay, too. :)

A couple of years back I did a sketch of my little sister. She was sitting on her bed, half turned away from me. Wasn't even a profile sketch, which might explain why it turned out beautifully. That, however, is a very rare occurrence. Normally, I simply do suck at sketching. :D

Wow, it's a great sketch! :)

I'll go look for mine when I get home. I hope I still have it, it really has been years and years, and when I moved I got rid of some old stuff. I hope it wasn't among those things. There certainly isn't a digital version as of yet.
