Of Hair and Men

What is it with men and long hair (on a woman)? Every time, literally every time, I mention going to the hairdresser to the BF he immediately gets that scared bunny look. He's ridiculously afraid I'll get a short cut. Thing is, I'm quite sure that if I ever did, he'd have a heart attack.

Now, someone, please, please, explain to me why men have such fascination with long hair. Is it genetically ingrained? Is it a tradition passed on from one generation to the next? What?

I don't get it. I just don't.

Hmm, but there have to be men who like short hair... I guess he's used to your long hair and cutting it would mean a change - obviously.
It's also something nice they don't wanna bother with themselves if you ask me. Taking care of long hair is work, as you should know. And if you have the long hair, he can enjoy looking at it and running his fingers through at his convenience without having to put up with the taking care of that stuff side effect. *rolleyes*

The last time I got a haircut (we won't mention how long it's been since we've actually cut it) my guy friends didn't even notice for like a month until another girl said something in front of them, and I had cut off over twelve inches of hair. Although one of the same guys recently freaked out when I mentioned having to cut my hair (I didn't remind him that he hadn't even noticed last time). So I guess it just depends on the guy. Maybe it's that ingrained Star Wars gene where they want a girl to have princess Leia hair or something.

My dad loved short hair, but I do know that most guys seem to love long hair. I'm not sure why it is that way though.
